Purpose and Objective

Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations within the organization, fostering a preventive and sustainable culture that protects employees, facilities, and the environment.

 

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mining & Engineering, Geology or other mining related professions.

Demonstrated oral and written English language proficiency.

Minimum of 10 years in HSE management roles, preferably in high-risk industries (mining, energy, construction, manufacturing).

Multi country exposure.

Availability for frequent visits to regional offices and assets

 

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Direction: Define and execute the long-term vision and strategy of HSE for South America Operations
  • Regulatory and Compliance: Ensure compliance with local and international regulations related to current labor, environmental, and safety legislation. Coordinate internal and external audits related to safety and environment.
  • HSE Management System: Design, implement, and maintain the HSE Management System in accordance with international standards (ISO 45001, ICMM).
  • Financial Management: Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and resource management of his/her area.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and motivate multidisciplinary teams, promoting a collaborative work environment, continuous training, and talent development within the organization.
  • HSE Training: Develop training and awareness programs for employees and contractors. Promote the implementation of courageous safety leadership and leading indicators.
  • HSE Investigations: Lead the Investigations of incidents, accidents, and near misses, proposing corrective measures.
  • Emergency Plans: Leads emergency plans for the corporate offices in South America Operations
  • Institutional Relations: Manage relationships with key stakeholders such as government authorities, local communities, investors, suppliers, and other relevant business actors.
  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate health, Safety and environmental risks associated with the corporate activities.
  • Social and Environmental Responsibility: Ensure that mining operations are conducted in accordance with best practices in corporate social responsibility and environmental sustainability.
  • Innovation and Technology: Promote the adoption of new technologies and innovative processes that optimize mining operations, reduce costs, and improve competitiveness in the market.
  • HSE Management System: Design, implement, and maintain the HSE Management System in accordance with international standards (ISO 45001, ICMM, OSHA, etc.).
