About the MARA Project:

 

The MARA Project is a copper and molybdenum development located in the province of Catamarca, Argentina. Situated in the Andes Mountains at an approximate altitude of 2,600 meters above sea level, MARA integrates the Agua Rica deposit with the existing Alumbrera processing facilities to optimize resources and infrastructure. The project belongs to Glencore, one of the world’s leading diversified natural resource companies, recognized for its responsible approach to producing and marketing essential raw materials that drive global economic growth and the transition toward a lowcarbon future.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • University degree in Geology, Hydraulic Engineering, or Environmental Engineering.
  • Preferred fluency in English and Spanish.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in hydrogeology and water management projects.
  • Strong knowledge of numerical modeling and hydrological data management.

 

Main Job Objectives:

  • Lead the technical development of hydrological projects, ensuring quality, safety, and compliance with deadlines.
  • Provide innovative and effective solutions in water resource management.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize the project's viability and sustainability.
  • Hydrogeological assessment of water resources for the operation of the concentrator plant
  • Implementation and following of Site Wide Water Balance of the entire operation

 

Operational Context:

  • Work within a highperformance engineering team, supporting EPCM, EPC, and owner projects. Regular travel to the Catamarca site is expected.

 

Control Elements:

  • Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards and codes.
  • Review and approve design documentation, specifications, and calculations.
  • Monitor quality, cost, and delivery time indicators in hydrological projects.

 

Experience and Skills:

  • Proven experience in hydrological design and water resource management.
  • Knowledge of risk assessment methodologies and data analysis.
  • Ability to develop technical deliverables and design criteria.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

CrossFunctional Collaboration:

  • Work collaboratively with the Environment area to validate hydrological and climatic data.
  • Support Technical Services in feasibility studies.
  • Assist in planning and executing early works.

 

Technical Input and Leadership:

  • Provide expert guidance in hydrological design and risk assessments.
  • Review methodologies and ensure compliance with best practices.
  • Drive innovative solutions using advanced technology.

 

Water Management Oversight:

  • Ensure quality control in erosion prevention studies and water quality assessments.

 

Contract Management:

  • Oversee contracting and renewal processes, ensuring compliance with current legislation.

 

Work Relationships and Structure:

  • Internal relationships: Engineering team members, internal consultants, project controls teams.
  • External relationships: Engineering service providers, regulatory authorities.
