Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
KCC SA exploits copper and cobalt ores on a large scale. It includes an underground mine, open-pit mines and integrated metallurgical facilities. The operation has one of the largest copper reserves in the world, with a current life of over 25 years.

Job Description
The Superintendent – Surface Mine Engineer is responsible for leading and coordinating engineering support to surface mining operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution of mine plans. The role provides technical guidance, operational analysis, and optimization initiatives that align with KCC’s production, safety, and sustainability objectives.
He/She will have, among other things, the following responsibilities (non-exhaustive list):
- Mine Planning & Engineering Support
- Lead and coordinate short-, medium planning activities to support production targets and strategic objectives.
- Ensure mine designs, pit layouts, and haulage systems are optimized for safety, productivity, and cost efficiency..
- Collaborate closely with the Production and Geology teams to ensure alignment between plan, schedule, and execution.
- Validate and approve mine engineering deliverables including pit designs, dump designs, and production schedules.
- Operational Performance & Optimization
- Monitor mine performance against plan and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency.
- Conduct data analysis on equipment productivity, mining costs, and operational KPIs to identify improvement areas.
- Support implementation of technology and automation projects in the mining environment.
- Conduct PowerBI data analysis.
- Leadership & Team Development
- Supervise and mentor a team of Mine Engineers, promoting a high-performance culture.
- Ensure team members are trained and developed in engineering standards, planning tools, and operational best practices.
- Foster strong communication and collaboration between the engineering and operational teams.
- Safety, Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure all engineering designs and activities comply with KCC’s health, safety, environmental, and community standards.
- Prepare and present accurate technical reports, forecasts, and recommendations to management.
- Support operational risk assessments and contribute to the continuous improvement of mine safety systems.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in open pit mine planning and engineering, preferably in large-scale base metal or copper operations.
- Strong experience with mine planning software (e.g., Surpac, Datamine, Deswik, or MineSched).
- Sound understanding of drilling and blasting, load and haul, and geotechnical design principles.
- Proven experience leading a technical team in a complex operational environment.
- Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in English and French will be an advantage.
