Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
KCC SA exploits copper and cobalt ores on a large scale. It includes an underground mine, open-pit mines and integrated metallurgical facilities. The operation has one of the largest copper reserves in the world, with a current life of over 25 years.

Job Description
The Manager – Underground Mining purpose is to ensure the safe, efficient and cost controlled execution of the mine plan and schedule to exceed project deliverables and mine ramp up. Tasked with the establishment of systems and processes for effective work planning & execution control and ensure that performance standards meet required standards – establish high performance operating culture.
Challenge and support Mining Planning and Technical design processes in ensuring mine plans, technical functions and schedules provide inputs to support safe and efficient mining operations. Guide equipment selection and monitor performance and maintenance effectiveness of the entire underground workforce. Seek early opportunities to introduce supporting new technologies to improve execution of works.
He/She will have, among other things, the following responsibilities (non-exhaustive list):
- Promote a strong safety culture by demonstrating visible safety leadership, identifying hazards, enforcing standards, and ensuring compliance with HSEC policies and procedures.
- Ensure operational discipline through the consistent application of underground mining best practices, procedures, and safe work systems.
- Support the planning and execution of mining activities to achieve production and quality targets while optimizing costs and resource utilization.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to superintendents, supervisors and operational teams to strengthen their leadership, technical capability, and accountability for results.
- Contribute to the implementation of best practice mining systems, including short interval control, shift planning, and performance management processes.
- Support change management and continuous improvement initiatives by identifying operational inefficiencies, recommending practical solutions, and following through on implementation.
- Assist in audits, reviews, and incident investigations, ensuring timely closure of findings and improvements in operational standards.
- Promote effective communication and teamwork across shifts, crews, and departments to ensure alignment on safety and production priorities.
- Monitor and review operational performance metrics and provide input into action plans to sustain productivity, safety, and cost performance.
- Uphold company values and ethical standards in all interactions and decision-making processes.
Job Requirements
Qualifications and experience
- University degree in mining engineering or recognized equivalent will be well regarded.
- Minimum of 15 years of operational experience in underground metalliferous mining, including supervisory or superintendent-level responsibilities.
- Proven track record of implementing change and improvements in a technologically advance underground mechanized mining environment
- Experience deploying and implementing technological mining systems such as automation of fleet, electronic blast initiation, and fleet and shift deployment tools.
- Proven experience in implementing and sustaining best practice mining systems (e.g., Short Interval Control, daily review processes, production optimization).
- Strong understanding of underground mining methods, equipment utilization, and shift execution.
- Demonstrated ability to coach and develop teams at different operational levels.
- Sound understanding of risk management, safety systems, and continuous improvement principles.
