Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
KCC SA exploits copper and cobalt ores on a large scale. It includes an underground mine, open-pit mines and integrated metallurgical facilities. The operation has one of the largest copper reserves in the world, with a current life of over 25 years.

Reporting directly to the IH Advisor , the role of the incumbent will be to plan, implement and evaluate industrial hygiene monitoring programs, while providing technical expertise and advice to management to ensure compliance and continuous improvement of occupational health and safety practices. This includes identifying risks, developing control solutions and promoting a safety culture on site.
Key functions include (non-exhaustive list):
• Identify occupational health hazards : This includes recognizing and assessing risks related to chemical, physical, biological and ergonomic exposures present in the work environment, based on direct observations and understanding of operational processes.
• Conducting thorough inspections and studies of work environments : This includes planning and carrying out regular assessments of workplaces to detect potential sources of hazards, using established protocols for systematic risk identification.
• Use specialized equipment to measure environmental factors : This includes the operation and calibration of devices to measure air quality, noise levels, vibrations, and other environmental parameters to quantify potential worker exposures.
• Perform respirator fit tests on workers, contractors, and visitors : This includes implementing seal testing procedures to ensure that respiratory protective equipment fits properly and provides optimal protection against airborne contaminants.
• Develop awareness and training materials and programs to support employee health and hygiene : This includes creating engaging educational materials and conducting training sessions on various topics related to industrial hygiene and occupational disease prevention for on-site staff and contractors.
• Develop and implement short-term strategies to mitigate hygiene issues : This includes proposing practical and cost-effective solutions to control identified risks, ensuring that these measures can be incorporated without disrupting the functionality of the workplace.
• Gather useful information regarding health incidents and report it to your superior : This includes taking statements from the employees involved, collecting documents, notes, sketches, measurements, photographs and videos to thoroughly document the incidents.
• Report incidents to your superior within the required timeframe after the incident : This includes ensuring prompt and accurate communication of all health-related events, following internal reporting procedures to enable rapid response and investigation.
• Assist other departments within the company to proactively promote cooperation in occupational health and safety : This includes actively participating in meetings, providing advice and supporting interdepartmental initiatives aimed at improving overall site safety.
• Lead by example by demonstrating health and safety principles and compliance : This includes rigorously adhering to all health and safety policies and procedures, adopting safe behaviors at all times and being a role model for all staff.
Job requirements .
Qualifications and experience.
• Have a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Sciences, Public Health or a related technical field of study;
• Have at least three (3) years of experience on a mining site in the field of industrial hygiene;
Technical skills.
• Basic Hygiene: Practical knowledge of industrial hygiene risks (dust, noise, chemical agents) and associated control measures.
• Control Procedures: Ability to read and apply safe work procedures and basic sampling protocols.
• Inspection and Reporting: Skill in conducting field inspections and writing clear observation reports.
• First Aid: Valid first aid certification (an asset).
• Computer Tools: Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel) for documentation and monitoring.

• Field Presence: Willingness to spend the majority of time in the field, in demanding environments (mine).
• Rigor and Vigilance: Constant attention to details and working conditions to prevent risks.
• Integrity: Demonstrate honesty and rigor in reporting non-conformities, without compromise.
• Interpersonal Communication: Ability to interact and communicate effectively with workers at all levels to raise awareness and advise.
• Autonomy: Ability to plan and execute inspection tasks independently.
