Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

KCC SA exploits copper and cobalt ores on a large scale. It includes an underground mine, open-pit mines and integrated metallurgical facilities. The operation has one of the largest copper reserves in the world, with a current life of over 25 years.

An experienced Senior Surveyor is needed to provide operational support in mine surveying, ensuring accurate and efficient survey operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading survey teams, managing survey data, and providing technical expertise to support mining operations.


He/She will have, among other things, the following responsibilities (non-exhaustive list):

  • Safety
    • Promote and implement the company’s safety management system within all survey activities.
    • Promote survey standard operating procedures in alignment with KCC safety regulations.
    • Support the safe handling, care and usage of survey equipment in line with regulatory and company policies.
    • Participate actively in safety inspections, incident investigations, and improvement initiatives.

 

  • Key Responsibilities
    • Survey Operations: Lead survey teams to conduct accurate and efficient surveys, ensuring compliance with mining regulations and company standards.
    • Data Management: Manage and analyze survey data, providing insights to support mining operations and optimize production.
    • Technical Expertise: Provide technical guidance and support to survey teams, ensuring best practices and adherence to surveying standards.
    • Collaboration: Work closely with mining operations, geology, and engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of survey data and support.
    • Training and Development: Mentor and train junior surveyors, promoting professional growth and development.
    • Quality Control: Ensure survey data accuracy, completeness, and compliance with quality standards.
    • Reporting: Prepare and present survey reports, maps, analyses, and recommendations to management.

 

  • Supervisory Responsibility
    • May supervise survey supervisors and technicians for operation support activities.
    • Coordinates survey activities according to survey procedures
    • Making sure QA/QC is performed on surveyors’ works.
    • Support in the development, coaching and training of junior staff where required.

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications and experience

 

  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in mine surveying, with a strong understanding of surveying principles, technologies, and mining operations.
  • Degree or Diploma in Mine Surveying, Geomatics, or related field; professional certification (e.g., Mine Surveyor registration and Drone Pilot license) will be an advantage.
  • Proficient in surveying software (e.g., Deswik, Surpac, AutoCAD, RiMining, TBC, Emersent Aura, DJI Terra, GPS, and data analysis tools. Must be able to drive LV.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience in supervising survey teams.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

 

Core Competencies

  • Good experience in the use of Total Stations (Leica and Trimble), GNSS (Trimble, Leica).
  • Good knowledge in the use of long- and short-range scanners.
  • Competency in the use of UAV’s and Aerial data acquisition.
  • Proficiency in software such as Deswik Suite, Trimble Business Center and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, in English; French and or local language (Swahili) proficiency is an advantage.
  • Self-motivated and dynamic.
