KCC SA exploits copper and cobalt ores on a large scale. It includes an underground mine, open-pit mines and integrated metallurgical facilities. The operation has one of the largest copper reserves in the world, with a current life of over 25 years.
As an industrial mining company, we provide safe workplaces and support the sustainable development of the local economy. We maintain a constructive and open dialogue with the communities that host us, as well as with the provincial and national government.
Under the direct supervision of the Short Term Mine Planning Superintendent, the role of Senior Dumps & Infrastructure Engineer will be to lead and optimize the design, planning and execution of waste rock piles, ore stockpiles, haul roads, drainage and mining infrastructure activities. He/she will ensure the alignment of waste management strategies with the mine life plan, geotechnical requirements and operational objectives. As the main technical reference, he/she will collaborate with the Engineering, Geotechnical and Operations teams. He/she will also play a key role in mentoring junior engineers and implementing sustainable and secure solutions. This position is essential to ensure the efficiency, safety and environmental compliance of mining infrastructure.
He/She will have, among others, the following responsibilities (non-exhaustive):
- Develop and optimize waste rock pile designs and associated road networks in the short, medium and long term. This includes the development of 3D models and strategic plans for the piles, taking into account topographic, geotechnical and environmental constraints. It is also about designing optimal mining routes for the efficient transport of materials, integrating the principles of safety and sustainability.
- Oversee the planning, monitoring and reconciliation of stockpiles to ensure compliance with the life of mine plan. This includes regularly updating models and monitoring reports, analyzing gaps between planning and actual execution, as well as adjusting strategies to maintain alignment with the mine's long-term goals.
