Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
KCC SA exploits copper and cobalt ores on a large scale. It includes an underground mine, open-pit mines and integrated metallurgical facilities. The operation has one of the largest copper reserves in the world, with a current life of over 25 years.

The Senior Supervisor - Geology Database is responsible for the comprehensive management of geological data systems that support the organization's resource estimation and exploration sections. This position demands a highly skilled individual with extensive knowledge of SQL and database management, ensuring the highest standards of data integrity, accessibility, and compliance with industry regulations. The Senior Supervisor will lead initiatives to streamline data system and reports, implement robust data validation processes, and foster collaboration among geological teams to ensure database update with the latest information. Through the usage of the database, the Senior Supervisor will also enhance the accuracy of geological models and support strategic planning, ultimately contributing to the efficient and sustainable development of mineral resources.
He/She will have, among other things, the following responsibilities (non-exhaustive list):
- Safety
- Promote a culture of safety in all data management practices.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations within the database management team.
- Conduct safety training for database users.
- Implement risk assessments for data management processes.
- Regularly participate in daily safety meetings and be a safety leader.
- Key Responsibilities
- Oversee geological database management and maintenance, ensuring optimal performance and reliability of data systems.
- Implement data validation and quality assurance (QA/QC) processes to guarantee the accuracy and integrity of geological data, utilizing QA/QC graphs to visualize data quality and identify trends.
- Collaborate with IT to enhance database functionality, security, and user accessibility, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
- Provide comprehensive training for users on database systems, protocols, and best practices to promote effective data management across geological teams.
- Prepare and utilize SQL queries to generate detailed reports on data integrity, usage metrics, and system performance for management review and strategic decision-making.
- Develop and maintain documentation for database procedures, ensuring clarity and accessibility for current and future users.
- Monitor database performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing enhancements as needed to optimize data handling.
- Coordinate with geologists to ensure that data requirements are met, facilitating timely and accurate data inputs.
- Stay updated on technological advancements in geological data management, exploring new software and methodologies to enhance data processes.
- Lead initiatives to improve data collection/input methodologies.
- Address any data discrepancies or issues promptly, implementing corrective actions to maintain data accuracy and reliability.
- Prepare presentations on projects performance, updates, and improvements for stakeholders.
- Collaborate with external consultants to enhance database practices and innovative solutions.
- Foster a culture of data accuracy and integrity within the team, promoting accountability and a commitment to high-quality data management

- Work closely with geological teams to ensure database effectiveness and readiness with the most up-to-date information.
- Engage with IT to ensure database connectivity and accessibility.
- Collaborate with other departments to enhance data sharing.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings to discuss data-related challenges.
- Work with the laboratories to ensure the usage and trends of QA/QC.
