Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
KCC SA exploits copper and cobalt ores on a large scale. It includes an underground mine, open-pit mines and integrated metallurgical facilities. The operation has one of the largest copper reserves in the world, with a current life of over 25 years.

Under the direct supervision of the Senior Mid Term Mine Planning Engineer, the incumbent will be responsible for developing and implementing safe, efficient and optimized mine plans for underground operations. He/she will play a key role in short- and medium-term planning, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations. The position requires close collaboration with the technical (geologists, geotechnical engineers, topographers) and operational teams. The ideal candidate will be expected to demonstrate technical rigor and proactivity in a dynamic mining environment. The function is essential to achieving the company's production and profitability goals
He/She will have, among others, the following responsibilities (non-exhaustive):
- Develop and implement underground mining block plans and schedules. This includes designing extraction sequences, planning mining infrastructure, and developing realistic production schedules aligned with the company's strategic objectives. These plans will also have to be adjusted according to technical or operational constraints.
- Carry out the design of the stope sites and carry out reconciliations. This includes modeling logging sites using specialized software, analyzing gaps between planned and completed, and incorporating lessons learned to improve future designs. It is essential to optimize recovered grades while minimizing dilution.
- Ensure that mining designs comply with safety, environmental and regulatory standards. This includes systematically checking mine plans to ensure that they comply with local regulations, environmental requirements, as well as internal safety standards. It is also expected to collaborate with HSE departments for regulatory audits or inspections.
- Provide ongoing technical support to underground operations. This includes daily assistance to field supervisors, solving technical problems that arose during extraction, and adjusting plans according to changing geological or mechanical conditions in the terrain.
- Conduct regular underground site inspections and safety audits. This includes actively participating in field visits, identifying risks, writing inspection reports, and making recommendations to improve the safety and efficiency of mining operations.
- Actively participate in risk assessments. This includes systematically analyzing planned activities to identify potential hazards, contributing to the development of mitigation measures, and incorporating the findings into mine planning.
- Collaborate with internal technical stakeholders. This includes maintaining strong and constructive relationships with geologists, geotechnical engineers, topographers, and other stakeholders, to ensure design that is integrated and consistent with field data and operational constraints.
- Analyze production data to improve future designs. This includes interpreting performance data, comparing with forecasts, and identifying discrepancies in order to adjust design models to maximize efficiency and profitability.
- Ensure clear communication of mine plans to operational teams. This includes presenting plans and technical instructions at planning meetings or daily briefings, and writing technical papers and reports.
- Participate in the continuous improvement of mine planning methods and tools. This includes technology watch on new software tools, optimization of planning processes, and participation in internal initiatives to innovate or digitalize mining operations
