Our Townsville Operations mark the final link in Glencore’s fully integrated north Queensland supply chain, connecting the natural resources we produce with markets around the world.

Copper Refineries Pty Ltd is one the world’s leading electrolytic copper refineries, capable of producing 300,000 tonnes per year of premium-quality ISA brand LME Grade A copper cathode using Glencore’s proprietary IsaKIDD refining process. Glencore Port Operations at the Port of Townsville is the export gateway for our north Queensland products.

The Role
This role will require you to assist and maintain the control systems for the Maintenance department. This will include inspections, preventative maintenance of the plant control hardware as well as configuration changes to various software. You will be required to conduct Life Cycle reviews of Software and Hardware for control systems. You will be required to assist with writing of procedures and guidelines for the plant control systems and other associated devices and documentation. You will be called upon to help the processing, projects and maintenance teams with fault finding breakdowns and investigation into continuous improvement projects.

Your key responsibilities include: 
  • Promoting and reinforcing a culture of safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement
  • Performing and reviewing configuration changes to control systems
  • Performing and validating control system backups
  • Maintaining record of PLC bridges with periodic reviews
  • Maintaining control system equipment and network infrastructure
  • Assisting the Maintenance teams with fault finding on breakdowns
  • Reviewing equipment critical spares, lifecycles and upgrades
  • Writing and updating work instructions, procedures, guidelines and drawings associated with control systems
  • Conducting in-house training for new software and current working systems to build maintenance team understanding
The successful applicants will have:
  • High level of attention to detail and can-do attitude
  • Must possess great time management skills, working independently and in a team
  • Must be willing to buy into the team dynamics and maintain a high level of customer focus
  • Experience with a wide variety of different PLC equipment is required. E.g. Honeywell, Siemens, AB Studio 500, ABB 800XA, etc.
  • Experience with a wide variety of Variable Speed Drives is required. E.g. Danfoss, Powerflex 753/755 etc.
  • Experience with Panelview programming and repairs is highly regarded
  • Experience and qualifications with functional safety is highly regarded
  • Experience with networking and wireless communications is highly regarded
  • Australian recognised qualification as an - Electrical Engineer or Electrician with proven skills and experience in process control
  • Basic to Intermediate knowledge in the use of Microsoft suites, SAP, Pi
