About the role:  
 
Reporting to the Senior Supervisor, Projects, the Senior Project Engineer is responsible for leading small to medium-sized capital projects from concept development and planning through execution and commissioning. Projects typically include earthworks, civil infrastructure, industrial buildings, and other site development initiatives. 
 
This role works closely with operations, technical services, maintenance, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget. 
 
To be successful, we are looking for someone who is collaborative and results-oriented engineering professional with strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, and the ability to build effective working relationships across multidisciplinary teams.

In this role you will:

  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies  

  • Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, and execution plans for a portfolio of capital projects 

  • Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and project closeout activities 

  • Lead the execution of civil, infrastructure, plant, environmental, and tailings-related projects in collaboration with contractors and internal stakeholders 

  • Support operational readiness, commissioning, start-up, and handover to operations teams 

  • Monitor project progress, costs, risks, and contractor performance to ensure successful project delivery 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain alignment and stakeholder engagement throughout the project lifecycle 

  • Analyze technical and project information to support effective decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or related Engineering discipline 

  • Registered, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC) 

  • Minimum of five years of experience managing engineering or capital projects through design, construction, and commissioning phases 

  • Experience managing earthworks, civil construction, industrial buildings, or mining-related infrastructure projects is preferred 

  • Experience in mining, heavy industrial, or resource-sector environments is considered a strong asset 

  • Working knowledge of project management principles, including scope development, scheduling, budgeting, cost control, contractor management, and risk management 

  • Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills 

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint 

  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent required 

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
