The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Director, Strathcona Mill to join our Glencore Sudbury Integrated Nickel Operations.

This is a full-time, permanent, staff position.

This position is being posted to fill an existing vacancy.

Duties and Accountabilities: 

The Strathcona Mill Director is an integral part of the Sudbury INO Senior Management Team and reports to the Vice President of Operations.   Through effective leadership, the Strathcona Mill Director will be required to establish the strategic vision and direction to effectively manage operations while meeting all safety, production, metallurgical, environmental, and budgetary objectives.  The position has significant impact on the operational results which support Sudbury INO mines and smelter and the long-term future of Glencore in Sudbury.

The incumbent will be directly responsible for the Strathcona Mill (a nickel and copper ore processing plant) tailings storage, water treatment, utilities and maintenance services located in proximity to Sudbury INO operations west of Sudbury.  The incumbent must be capable of developing, leading and implementing strategic business initiatives as they relate to Glencore’s Health, Safety, Environment, Community and Human Rights (HSEC and HR) Standards.  The role requires an individual who is capable driving continuous improvement and seeking and securing Custom Feeds and other opportunities, that support overall strategic business needs.  The Strathcona Mill currently employs approximately 95 employees.

Education and Skills

The ideal candidate is an experienced operations Manager with a strong technical background and significant experience in production, engineering, and management.  The candidate must have strong managerial and interpersonal skills and be a leader in HSEC and HR at all levels of the organization.  Sudbury INO is seeking a strategic thinker with capacity to implement targets and influence outcomes.  A minimum of 15 years of experience in management roles in operations, coupled with solid business acumen is required.
