This Brisbane-based role is an office position, Monday to Friday, reporting to the Group Manager - Financial Accounting and Control.

The Role
The Superintendent Shared Financial Services (Payroll and Accounts Payable) is a leadership position reporting directly to the Group Manager - Financial Accounting and Control for Glencore Metals Australia. This position is suited to a results-driven finance professional with experience leading payroll and accounts payable operations within a shared financial services environment.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record leading high-volume transactional teams, standardising and automating payroll and accounts payable processes, strengthening internal controls, and ensuring compliance with payroll legislation, taxation requirements and accounts payable policy.
Leading a team of finance professionals, you will be responsible for delivering safe, compliant and customer-focused payroll and accounts payable services while driving standardisation, automation and continuous improvement across the function.
In this role, you will foster collaboration across various departments to ensure payroll is processed accurately and on time, and that supplier payments are managed efficiently and within terms. You will maintain strong working relationships with site management teams, as well as Human Resources, IT, Treasury, Tax and Corporate functions.
Your focus will be on identifying opportunities to improve the efficiency, accuracy and control environment of payroll and accounts payable processing, while ensuring the delivery of accurate, timely and compliant financial outcomes that meet the organisation's statutory and internal requirements.
Key Requirements
The position requires you to be a degree-qualified finance professional with demonstrated experience leading payroll and accounts payable functions within a shared services environment. You will bring strong technical payroll and accounts payable knowledge, alongside a proven ability to lead teams and drive meaningful change.
In this role, you will oversee payroll and accounts payable services across all Glencore Metals Australian operations while championing process improvement and ensuring compliance.
What You'll Bring
- Degree qualified in Finance, Accounting, Business or a related field; CPA/CA or payroll industry accreditation (e.g. Australian Payroll Association) highly regarded
• Demonstrated experience leading payroll operations, including end-to-end pay cycle processing, payroll tax, superannuation and Single Touch Payroll (STP) compliance
• Demonstrated experience leading accounts payable functions, including invoice processing, three-way matching, vendor management and payment runs
• Strong working knowledge of Australian employment legislation and industrial instruments (awards and enterprise agreements) as they affect payroll processing
• Proven track record of driving change, improving processes and delivering operational efficiencies within a shared services environment
• Experience monitoring compliance with financial regulations and internal policies, supporting regular audits and reviews
• Strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams including HR, IT, Treasury and Tax to ensure alignment of financial and operational goals
• Experience with ERP/HRIS payroll systems (e.g. Workday) highly regarded, including experience through systems transitions or implementations
• Ability to lead, coach and develop a team, providing training and support to enhance skills and performance
