We are seeking a Health Officer to join our Health & Hygiene team in a development role that offers hands-on experience and on-the-job training in occupational health and rehabilitation. Reporting to the Health & Hygiene Superintendent within the Mt Isa Mines HSEC team, you will support health monitoring, medical surveillance, case management, and workplace health programs while developing the skills to progress into a Return-to-Work Coordinator role and, depending on qualifications, a Health Advisor or Occupational Hygienist position.

 

This is a residential Mount Isa-based position working a Monday to Friday roster with a 9-day fortnight, meaning you'll enjoy every second Friday off.

About the role

Mount Isa Mines is seeking a motivated Health Officer to join our Health Team within the HSEC Department. In this role, you will play an important role in supporting the Health & Hygiene team while helping facilitate successful return to work outcomes for employees.

 

Working closely with operational leaders, employees, medical practitioners and allied health providers, you will contribute to proactive health initiatives, injury prevention strategies and rehabilitation programs that support the wellbeing of our workforce. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about workplace health, injury management and making a positive impact on employee wellbeing.

 

Key responsibilities:

• Support and coordination of case management and return-to-work activities
• Assist with coordination of Health monitoring, health surveillance and follow up actions
• Assist with health promotion
• Assist with fitness for work assessments
• Coordination of Medical assessments and routine health checks
• Support with On call activities
• General administrative support across health and hygiene initiatives

 

Required experience

No prior experience is required. This role is ideally suited to recent graduates in allied health disciplines, individuals currently studying occupational hygiene, or those with experience in health, safety, or related support roles who are looking to develop a career in occupational health.
