About the role

 

The Manager – GFM Projects provides strategic leadership and governance for the planning, execution and delivery of capital and infrastructure projects across George Fisher Mine. The role ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and in compliance with engineering standards, while maintaining the integrity of critical fixed infrastructure. Working closely with Operations, Maintenance, Technical Services and external contractors, the Manager – GFM Projects provides engineering assurance through robust design governance, independent verification, asset certification and disciplined management of change. The position plays a critical leadership role in enabling safe production, protecting asset integrity and supporting the successful delivery of the mine's capital program, while providing succession depth for engineering governance across the operation.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the safe delivery of capital and infrastructure projects across George Fisher Mine from concept through to commissioning.
  • Provide engineering governance for fixed infrastructure, ensuring all project-delivered assets meet statutory, engineering and operational requirements.
  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets and resources to achieve agreed business outcomes.
  • Ensure robust design reviews, independent engineering verification, certification and quality assurance processes are implemented throughout project lifecycles.
  • Lead the management of change process for new infrastructure and modifications, ensuring assets are safe by design and operationally ready.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with Operations, Maintenance, Technical Services, contractors and external stakeholders to achieve integrated project delivery.
  • Drive continuous improvement in project management practices, engineering standards, contractor performance and asset lifecycle outcomes.
  • Provide visible safety leadership while mentoring and developing engineering and project teams to build capability and strengthen succession within the business.

 

Required Experience

 

The successful candidate will possess significant experience delivering complex capital projects within heavy industry, mining or processing environments, supported by a strong engineering background and demonstrated leadership capability. Experience managing multidisciplinary project teams, contractors and major infrastructure works is essential, together with a proven ability to deliver projects safely, manage commercial outcomes and provide engineering governance. Candidates will have extensive knowledge of structural integrity, engineering assurance, asset management and change management processes, with the ability to influence stakeholders across technical and operational functions while driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.
