The Position
Reporting to the Supervisor Refractory, successful applicants will be responsible for carrying out refractory installation, maintenance, demolition and associated civil works across multiple fixed plant assets in a heavy industrial environment.
This role requires flexibility to work both day and night shift rosters, including shutdowns, breakdown maintenance and project work.

The Position
Reporting to the Supervisor Refractory, successful applicants will be responsible for carrying out refractory installation, maintenance, demolition and associated civil works across multiple fixed plant assets in a heavy industrial environment.
This role requires flexibility to work both day and night shift rosters, including shutdowns, breakdown maintenance and project work.
Key Responsibilities:
Successful candidates will be involved in all aspects of refractory maintenance and installation, including:
- Refractory bricklaying and furnace lining installation
- Partial and full relines of furnaces, converters, launders and process vessels
- Installation and repair of refractory castables
- Cold gunning and hot gunning operations
- Ramming works and refractory patching
- Acid proof brick and lining installation
- Refractory demolition using hand tools and mechanical equipment
- Brokk robotic demolition operation
- Reading and interpreting refractory drawings and installation procedures
- Working safely within confined spaces, hot work environments and shutdown conditions
- General labouring and all aspects of civil construction associated with refractory maintenance activities
- Maintaining high housekeeping and safety standards across all work areas
To be successful in this role you will possess:
- Trade qualification in Bricklaying/Refractory or demonstrated refractory industry experience
- Experience working within smelters, mineral processing plants, refineries, steelworks or heavy industry environments
- Experience in refractory installation, demolition and maintenance
- Castables
- Gunning processes
- Ramming applications
- Acid proof lining systems
- Furnace and vessel relines
- Brokk operating experience highly regarded
- Ability to interpret refractory drawings and technical specifications
- Strong commitment to safety and hazard awareness
- Ability to work effectively within shutdown and maintenance teams
- Physically fit and capable of manual work in demanding environments
- Willingness to work rotating day and night shift rosters
