The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated and safety-focused Cadet Mining Engineer to join our underground mining operation. This role is designed to provide hands-on exposure to underground mining, mine planning, and operational execution while supporting the Mining Engineering team.
Working alongside experienced Mining Engineers and operational personnel, the successful candidate will gain practical experience in mine design, drill and blast activities, development, reporting, underground inspections, and operational support. Structured underground crew time will form part of the development program, providing valuable exposure to mining operations and how engineering plans are implemented in the field.
This position offers a strong foundation for career development within underground mining engineering through mentoring, structured learning, and practical site experience.
The role will be 5:2, 4:3 residential in Mt Isa.

- A strong interest in underground mining and willingness to learn
- Good communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
- A strong commitment to safety and professional development
- Basic computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office
- Previous mining exposure and familiarity with mine design software will be highly regarded
- Have commenced or been accepted into a tertiary course in Mine Engineering
