Join Glencore Metals, Queensland Operations as a Human Resources Officer, supporting the HR team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment where you’ll play a key role across the employee lifecycle. Based in Mount Isa, Queensland, this is a 12month Fixed term position, allowing you to build your HR career while enjoying a strong regional lifestyle.

About the role

The Human Resources Officer role supports the Mount Isa Mines by providing high-quality administrative and operational HR support within a fast-paced and high-volume environment. Reporting to the HR Superintendent, this role plays a key part in supporting HR Advisors across core activities including onboarding, reporting, payroll administration, and employee lifecycle processes.

 

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Provide HR administrative support across a range of functions
  • Complete data entry across payroll, performance reviews, and HR systems
  • Coordinate onboarding and offboarding processes, including travel arrangements
  • Maintain accurate document control and HR records
  • Assist with end-of-month reporting and processing
  • Audit HR systems to ensure data accuracy and compliance
  • Support HR Advisors with general administration tasks
  • Manage internal and external stakeholder enquiries via phone and email

 

About you – skills and experience

The ideal candidate will have experience working in a fast-paced HR or administrative environment, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities efficiently. You will be highly organised, detail-oriented, and confident supporting HR processes across the employee lifecycle. Experience in mining or a similar operational environment is beneficial, along with a willingness to take ownership, learn quickly, and contribute to a collaborative team

  • Strong administrative and organisational skills
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in high-volume environments
  • Experience using HR systems such as SAP or Ellipse (desirable)
  • Strong computer literacy across Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and reporting
  • Ability to manage confidential information appropriately
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and supporting team outcomes
