Mount Isa Mines are currently advertising for a Scheduling Engineer vacancy that exists in the George Fisher Mine, Technical Services team. This role is residentially based in Mount Isa, working an 8/6, 12-hour roster or a 5/2, 4/3 9-hour roster. FIFO may be considered for the right candidate. We encourage suitably qualified and experienced local candidates to apply. For those candidates located outside of Mount Isa, relocation support is available for this position to enable you and your family to live and work in Mount Isa.

About the role
Reporting to the Senior Scheduling Engineer, the Scheduling Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining short-term schedules that support the successful execution of the mine plan. You’ll ensure plans are practical, achievable, and aligned with real operational conditions, while proactively identifying risks and constraints. This is a role where your work directly influences daily performance on site—turning plans into action and enabling reliable execution of the mine plan.

About the role
Reporting to the Senior Scheduling Engineer, the Scheduling Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining short-term schedules that support the successful execution of the mine plan. You’ll ensure plans are practical, achievable, and aligned with real operational conditions, while proactively identifying risks and constraints. This is a role where your work directly influences daily performance on site—turning plans into action and enabling reliable execution of the mine plan.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain accurate short-term mine schedules aligned with the approved mine plan
- Translate medium- and long-term plans into clear, actionable schedules.
- Collaborate with Operations and Technical Services to ensure schedules are practical and executable
- Identify scheduling constraints, risks, and dependencies, and drive mitigation strategies
- Support delivery of production and development targets through timely and reliable scheduling outputs
- Work closely with Operations teams to scope upcoming work and monitor schedule performance
- Analyse operational performance and provide feedback to improve schedule reliability and efficiency
- Maintain scheduling systems, data, and documentation to ensure accuracy and accessibility
- Ensure all scheduling activities consider safety, operational risks, and site requirements
- Degree qualification in a Mining-related discipline
- Experience in underground hard-rock mining, ideally in planning or scheduling roles
- Strong understanding of underground mining methods, development, and production processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with mine design and scheduling software (Deswik preferred)
- Ability to analyse data and develop practical, achievable schedules
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
