The Role 
This position would report to the Engineer Reliability and is a residential position based in Mount Isa. This role will see you responsible for the monitor, maintain, repair and improve the oil and grease systems across the Lead Smelter to maximize plant life and availability. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Promoting and reinforcing a culture of safety, operational excellence and continuous improvement including:
  • Comply with all site safety standards, procedures, and legislative requirements
  • Conduct work in accordance with isolation, permit, and risk management procedures
  • Participate in safety interactions, inspections, and hazard reporting
  • Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained in all work areas
  • Promote a proactive safety and reliability culture.
Condition Monitoring
Conduct routine condition monitoring inspections on fixed plant equipment including:
  • Vibration analysis
  • Thermography
  • Ultrasonic inspections
  • Oil sampling and analysis
  • Visual condition inspections
  • Monitor and trend equipment health data using CMMS and condition monitoring software
  • Identify developing equipment defects and provide recommendations for corrective actions
  • Assist with failure investigations and root cause analysis (RCA)
  • Support maintenance strategy optimisation through analysis of equipment condition data
  • Generate condition monitoring reports and communicate findings to maintenance and operations teams
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, defects, and corrective actions
Lubrication Management
  • Execute lubrication schedules for rotating and critical plant assets
  • Perform oil changes, grease application, contamination control, and lubricant top-ups
  • Ensure correct lubricant selection and application in accordance with OEM and site standards
  • Maintain lubrication equipment and storage systems to best practice contamination control standards
  • Conduct lubricant sampling and coordinate laboratory analysis
  • Identify lubrication-related failures and opportunities for improvement
  • Assist in developing and improving lubrication routes and procedures.
You will have the following skillset and attributes:
  • Minimum experience of 3 years within the mining industry is preferred
  • Trade qualification – Fitter (Mechanical) essential
  • Current manual driver’s license
  • Experience with lubrication and hydraulic systems
  • Experience with oil analysis and condition monitoring
  • Experience using CMMS systems such as SAP PM
  • Ability to interpret vibration and oil analysis reports
  • Understanding of rotating equipment failure modes
  • Sound computer skills
  • A demonstrated commitment to safety
  • A self-motivated attitude and enjoy working in small yet highly productive teams
  • The ability to adapt to change in duties from day to day
