Mount Isa Mines are currently advertising for a Radio Technician vacancy that exists in the Electrical team. This role is residentially based in Mount Isa, working a 7/7 day shift roster. We encourage suitably qualified and experienced local candidates to apply. For those candidates located outside of Mount Isa, relocation support is available for this position to enable you and your family to live and work in Mount Isa.

About the role
Reporting to the Communications Supervisor, the Radio Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the reliable operation, installation and maintenance of communication systems across George Fisher Mine. The position is responsible for safely and effectively performing planned maintenance, breakdown repairs and system upgrades, while upholding site safety standards and maintaining high workmanship quality.
Key responsibilities:
Install, maintain and repair communication systems in accordance with site and Australian Standards.
- Perform planned and breakdown maintenance to support production and development KPIs.
- Work independently or within a team, demonstrating high quality workmanship and safe work practices.
- Maintain accurate installation, maintenance and system documentation and records.
- Support communications infrastructure including radio, fibre, networking and safety critical systems.
About you – skills and experience:
You will bring:
- Trade qualified Radio Technician.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure with strong time management skills.
- Effective communication skills and demonstrated teamwork capability.
- Current Australian Manual Driver’s Licence.
- Mining industry experience.
- Experience with:

- Telephone systems
- Optical Fibre
- Radio RF/HF
- Miri and PED systems
- Networking technologies
- Impact collision avoidance systems
- Automated machinery
- Experience using SAP or similar maintenance systems.
- Experience using Microsoft Excel.
- Willingness to learn new processes and adapt to change.
