About the role

 

The Air Quality Controller plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with Environmental Authority (EA) conditions by applying air quality control strategies informed by meteorological data and observations. The position supports operational efficiency while minimising air quality–related production impacts, and contributes to proactive environmental management across the business through stakeholder collaboration and continuous improvement initiatives. The role reports directly to the AQC Supervisor and works closely with a broad range of internal teams, technical specialists, and external stakeholders to maintain environmental performance and the organisation’s social licence to operate.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Apply AQC control strategies using meteorological data to maintain compliance with EA air quality conditions
  • Demonstrate and promote strong safety leadership in line with HSEC policies and procedures
  • Communicate air quality conditions and decision-making rationale clearly to stakeholders
  • Liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders across multiple levels
  • Identify and contribute to improvements in AQC systems and processes
  • Participate in incident investigations and support corrective actions implementation
  • Assist with environmental reporting requirements (e.g. EA Annual Reporting)
  • Contribute to development and continuous improvement of air quality documentation and systems
  • Promote environmental awareness and positive outcomes through collaboration with the business

 

About you – skills and experience

 

The role requires experience or the capability to develop expertise in meteorological observation and environmental monitoring, ideally within a mining or industrial setting. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to interpret and communicate technical data effectively, alongside a strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Experience in environmental or mining industries is desirable, supported by technical proficiency and a proactive, organised approach to work.

 

You will bring:

 

  • Meteorological data observation, interpretation, and reporting
  • Ability to collate and communicate technical information clearly
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Familiarity with PI systems (desirable)
  • Experience in environmental and/or mining industry (desirable)
  • Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • High level of organisation, motivation, and diligence
  • Strong safety focus with hazard identification and incident reporting capability
