Mount Isa Mines are currently advertising a Mechanical Engineer vacancy that exists in the Maintenance Department. This role will see you become an integral part of the Copper Smelter Maintenance team. This role is residentially based in Mount Isa, working a 4/3 roster.

The successful candidate you will have:
- Tertiary Qualification in Mechanical Engineering with 2 years mining and/or construction industry experience
- Condition Monitoring experience will be high regarded
- Working within a team environment, however manage your own tasks effectively
- A strong safety culture and work ethic are fundamental to thriving in your role
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
This role would include:
- Managing the condition monitoring plan for fixed plant equipment.
- Work with production, maintenance and other stakeholders to identify and develop engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations. Including use of root cause analysis, failure reporting and corrective actions system.
- Building strong working relationships with operations, maintenance and other teams at the Smelter.
- Performing engineering calculations, design reviews, and conducting risk assessments.
- Prioritise and recommend Continuous Improvement Projects and project justification.
- Managing external suppliers, and ensuring compliance with site and statutory standards.
- Completion and reporting on planned and ad-hoc safety inspections and audits.
