The Role

The Group Manager Operational Performance and Improvement will provide strategic leadership and oversight of the improvement function across the Glencore Metals Australia region, embedding a culture of continuous improvement and ensuring initiatives deliver sustainable value.

 

Key Requirements

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to direct the improvement process embedment across various assets and functions while partnering effectively with the COO and General Managers to define and implement successful improvement initiatives.  The candidate will provide governance, reporting and continuous improvement of the GMA improvement process. This role will coordinate the annual life of Asset and tactical planning of budgets. The candidate should possess the skills to coach leaders and operational improvement teams in identifying alternative pathways to success, as well as a commitment to building improvement capability among site leaders and supporting their ongoing development. Excellent influencing skills are required to share knowledge and drive engagement across the broader Glencore business.

The candidate must be able to act as an independent challenger, encouraging leaders to stretch their thinking and maximise value in their strategies, plans, and initiatives. Additionally, proficiency in creating and leveraging local and global networks to facilitate productivity improvements, along with leadership experience in guiding a regional improvement team towards achieving strategic goals, is essential.

 

The successful candidate will have:

  • Degree qualification in Business, Mining or related discipline;
  • 10 + years experience in mining / manufacturing industry with demonstrated improvement leadership;
  • Proven experience as a senior leader, managing and developing teams;
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of key business and industry drivers;
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and influence across all levels, functions and disciplines;
  • Skilled in constructive challenge, coaching, mentoring and leadership development;
  • Strong strategic development and planning capabilities;
  • Proven ability to deliver results within time, cost, and operational constraints.
