The Role
The Surface Engineering Team currently have a vacancy for a Project Engineer. This role involves working across both concentrator and smelter assets offering very rare breadth of exposure. This role would give the right candidate the practical site experience to take their career to the next level.

The chosen candidate will be responsible for:

  • Development of scoping documents and tendering for the rectification of structural defects in a brownfield environment,
  • Estimations and development of cost, time and resources (CTR) sheets for various brownfield civil and structural projects,
  • Manage delivery of innovative repair methodology for structural and civil remediation projects across four operating plants,
  • Management and coordination of internal stakeholders, consultant, fabricators and suppliers, and contractors,
  • Coordinate using 3D scanning and modelling software (Solidworks) by the designers and design engineers to execute engineering designs,
  • Working with design resources to ensure designs are fit for purpose and practical,
  • Work collaboratively with a well-established structural execution team to ensure safe completion of structural and civil works,
  • Planning, coordination and management of the projects from initiation to engineering, procurement, fabrication, and installation works,
  • Assisting in the execution of the structural integrity program, including compliance inspections,
  • Providing technical support to the site execution teams, operations and maintenance departments,
  • Ensuring compliance with site and statutory standards including but not limited to safety and QA/QC requirements,
  • Developing and tracking of project schedules, cost control and budgets, presentations and reports,
  • Manage variations and changes as per Glencore MIM procedures.


You will have the following skillset and attributes:

  • Bachelor of Structural/Civil Engineering (preferred),
  • 2-5 years’ experience as a structural or civil project engineer,
  • An understanding of the relevant Australian Standards, Acts & Regulations,
  • Knowledge in SAP, AutoCAD, SolidWorks and Microsoft Project would be beneficial,
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, along with the ability to interact with various departments and across multiple levels of the business,
  • Contractor management (onboarding and compliance),
  • A high energy work ethic is a necessity with the ability to work autonomously or as part of a team
