The Role
Mount Isa Mines are currently advertising a vacancy for the role of Senior – Specialist. Reporting to the Superintendent – Fixed Plant Maintenance and Operations at GFM, you will deliver specialised technical support and strategic direction for enhancing asset reliability, implementing maintenance best practices and driving continuous improvement in fixed plant operations.

This role is a Mount Isa residential position on a 5:2 / 4:3 (9- day fortnight) roster.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Lead the development and implementation of asset management strategies to improve equipment reliability and availability.
  • Assist with the development and review of SWI’s and JSEA’s
  • Provide subject matter expertise on fixed plant systems (e.g., crushers, conveyors, pumps, hoists).
  • Ensure maintenance practices align with OEM recommendations, industry standards, and site-specific requirements.
  • Support QA/QC processes and ensure compliance with engineering and safety standards.
  • Assist in the scoping and execution of CAPEX and improvement projects as well as shutdown scoping.
  • Lead or support change management initiatives related to maintenance systems, technology upgrades, or process improvements.
  • Mentor maintenance personnel in technical troubleshooting, reliability principles, and best practices.
  • Contribute to training programs and knowledge sharing across departments.
  • Active participation in site processes (B-Safe, 3Cs, 3Ws, change management, etc.) and process improvements.
  • Assist to ensure that project handover is seamless with the maintenance teams
  • Spot audits, checks on the work groups as well as high risk SI’s and PTO’s

 

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Essentially be trade qualified or have a relevant tertiary qualification
  • Thorough understanding of mining plant and maintenance strategies for various mining equipment including but not limited to crushing plants, conveyor systems, paste plant, hoisting systems and underground dewatering
  • Sound knowledge of SAP and Microsoft suite
  • Current Manual QLD Drivers' License
  • Minimum of 10 years supervisor and technical experience
