The Role
We are seeking a safety focused and multi skilled Ringfirer to join the Drill & Blast team at George Fisher Mine. Reporting to the Supervisor – Drill & Blast, you will play a critical role in the safe and efficient execution of production and non-production blasting activities, supporting the achievement of mine production targets while maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance.

This residential role is based in Mount Isa and operates on a 7/7 continuous rotating day and night shift roster, allowing you to enjoy the lifestyle benefits of living and working in the local community.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Safely preparing, charging and firing production and secondary blasts in accordance with approved blast designs and charging plans
• Conducting pre-start inspections, hazard identification and Personal Risk Assessments (PRAs) to ensure work is completed safely and in compliance with site standards
• Safely transporting, handling and managing explosives in accordance with legislative and site requirements including identifying, barricading and reporting misfires
• Carrying out routine equipment inspections and minor maintenance to ensure operational readiness
• Planning and organising daily work to safely achieve production targets while maintaining accurate operational records and effective shift handovers
• Maintaining a high standard of housekeeping, ensuring work areas remain safe and suitable for blasting activities
• Communicating effectively with supervisors and key stakeholders to support safe and efficient Drill & Blast operations
• Demonstrating safety leadership, contributing to a positive team culture, participating in training and mentoring opportunities, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives
• Assisting the Drill & Blast team and other operational departments as required

The successful candidate will possess:

• A minimum of five years' experience in underground mining, including experience working with explosives and a strong understanding of underground drill and blast practices
• A current Australian manual driver's licence
• A current QSEC card and the statutory licences required to store, transport, handle and use explosives, or the ability to obtain them
• Strong communication, planning, problem-solving and time management skills, with the ability to maintain accurate operational records
• A collaborative, safety focused approach, with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment.
• Flexibility, adaptability and a commitment to continuous improvement
• Equipment tickets such as IT, Loader or Forklift are highly regarded
• The ability to successfully pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening
