Mount Isa Mines are currently seeking a Specialist – Surface Fleet to join the Mobile Maintenance team at Mount Isa Mines Rebuild Workshop. Reporting to the Superintendent ISF and Rebuild Workshop, this position is residential in Mount Isa and requires you to work a 9-day fortnight (5/2, 4/3). 

The Role 
An excellent opportunity exists for a Specialist – Surface Fleet to join the ISF and Rebuild Workshop Department at MIM.  This is a permanent, full-time basis position reporting directly to the Superintendent ISF and Rebuild. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting with the safe, reliable and efficient maintenance, rebuild and refurbishment of all Mobile Assets. This role requires strong technical capability, forward planning, disciplined maintenance management and the ability to oversee a multidisciplinary workforce.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Overseeing major rebuilds and maintenance of Mobile Equipment to ensure safe, compliant and efficient maintenance operations
  • Monitor and update maintenance strategies, inspection regimes and condition monitoring programs
  • Work closely with other maintenance teams and Planning teams to optimise schedules
  • Provide technical expertise on repair methodologies, developing and implementing rebuild standards and QA/QC processes
  • Coach, mentor and develop a diverse team, ensuring capability, accountability, succession planning and strong safety culture
  • Coordination workshop repairs and improvement projects
The successful candidate will be and have the ability to obtain: 
  • 5+ year’s extensive experience in repairs and maintenance with underground and surface heavy mobile equipment
  • A recognised Mechanical trade or tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering
  • Proven leadership experience with high level safety leadership and risk management
  • A continuous improvement mindset, with a passion for efficiency, process optimisation and people development
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills across the maintenance teams, vendors and contractors
  • Excellent project management skills including equipment maintenance and contractor management
  • Strong technical understanding of rebuild and maintenance processes
  • Advanced level Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel)
