The Role
Reporting to the General Manager Human Resources, partner with senior leaders and operational HR teams to design and deliver the talent, recruitment and leadership capability strategy for Glencore Metals Australia (GMA). You will be accountable for strengthening workforce capability across the Metals portfolio by improving recruitment performance and critical skills acquisition, building sustainable leadership and talent pipelines, driving consistent talent and succession practices across assets, and enhancing workforce planning and talent data insights. Your work will ensure the People Strategy translates into practical workforce outcomes so operations can secure, develop and retain the talent required to safely and effectively deliver business performance.
Key responsibilities
- Lead development and execution of the GMA talent and workforce capability strategy, aligned to the Metals People Strategy.
- Identify current and future critical capability gaps and design practical solutions to address them.
- Partner with asset HR teams and senior operational leaders to strengthen workforce capability, leadership depth and succession readiness.
- Own the recruitment strategy and performance framework across GMA, improving recruitment efficiency, quality of hire and time-to-fill for operational and critical roles.
- Establish recruitment governance, metrics and reporting to drive accountability and continuous improvement across assets.
- Design and maintain a consistent talent and succession framework; strengthen identification and development of high-potential and future leadership talent.
- Develop and support leadership capability initiatives that improve operational leadership effectiveness and are practically aligned to site needs.
- Oversee early career and talent pipeline programs to support long-term workforce sustainability across the Metals portfolio.
- Establish consistent talent and recruitment metrics, use workforce insights to inform decision-making, and drive process improvements to ensure efficient, consistent talent management.
About you — experience & qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in human resources or related discipline preferred.
- 10–15 years’ experience in HR, workforce capability, talent management, or recruitment leadership roles in complex operational environments.
- Demonstrated experience designing and executing talent, recruitment or workforce capability strategies aligned to business objectives.
- Proven track record of improving workforce capability and recruitment performance (e.g., quality of hire, time-to-fill, succession readiness).
- Strong ability to influence senior leaders, operational management, and HR teams; comfortable operating at both strategic and practical levels.
- Experience with workforce planning, talent analytics, governance and implementing consistent talent frameworks across multiple sites
