About the role:
Mount Isa Mines is seeking an organised and detail-focused Officer – Vehicle Inspector to support the safe and compliant operation of vehicles across site.
In this role, you will inspect all vehicles entering and operating on site to ensure they meet Mount Isa Mines’ safety, operational and compliance requirements. You will maintain accurate inspection records, identify defects or non-conformances, and work with vehicle owners and site teams to ensure issues are addressed promptly. This position will be offered on the 5/2/4/3 roster.

About the role:
Mount Isa Mines is seeking an organised and detail-focused Officer – Vehicle Inspector to support the safe and compliant operation of vehicles across site.
In this role, you will inspect all vehicles entering and operating on site to ensure they meet Mount Isa Mines’ safety, operational and compliance requirements. You will maintain accurate inspection records, identify defects or non-conformances, and work with vehicle owners and site teams to ensure issues are addressed promptly. This position will be offered on the 5/2/4/3 roster.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct inspections of light vehicles, heavy vehicles, mobile equipment and site vehicles.
- Verify that vehicles meet site entry, safety and operational requirements.
- Identify defects, damage, missing equipment and compliance issues.
- Record inspection outcomes and maintain accurate vehicle registers and documentation.
- Issue inspection approvals, tags or notifications in accordance with site procedures.
- Escalate serious defects or non-compliance to the appropriate supervisor.
- Liaise with employees, contractors, maintenance teams and vehicle owners.
- Monitor the status of outstanding defects and follow up on corrective actions.
- Support audits, reporting and continuous improvement activities.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all inspections are completed in accordance with Mount Isa Mines’ standards.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience in vehicle inspections, fleet administration, compliance or a similar role
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to inspections and recordkeeping.
- Sound knowledge of vehicle safety requirements and defect identification.
- The ability to interpret procedures, checklists and technical documentation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good computer skills and the ability to maintain accurate records.
- The confidence to identify and report non-compliance.
- A commitment to safety, integrity and operational excellence.
- A current driver’s licence; relevant inspection, mechanical or heavy vehicle experience will be highly regarded.
- Trade Qualification – Mechanical is essential
