Glencore Mount Isa Mines is seeking a safety focused Equipment Operator to join the Isa Surface Operations team.

The Role 
We are seeking an Equipment Operator to join the Isa Surface Operations team. This team provides bulk materials handling and road maintenance services to various departments across the Mount Isa Mines lease. 

Reporting to the ISF Shift Supervisors, you will work a rotating roster of 4 days on, 4 days off, 4 nights on, 4 days off, comprising of 12 hour shifts (42 hour average week). These are residential positions based in Mount Isa.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Operating dump trucks, water carts and loaders safely and efficiently while maintaining clear and positive communication.
  • Promoting and reinforcing a culture of safety, operational excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Working collaboratively with other departments, contractors and teams to ensure production targets are achieved safely.
  • Maintaining a high standard of safety in all work activities.
  • Conducting thorough pre-start inspections and monitoring and reporting equipment condition.
  • Operating mobile equipment safely across site.

You will have the following skillset and attributes:

  • A current and valid Australian manual driver's licence.
  • Demonstrated experience operating dump trucks and water carts (essential).
  • Loader operating experience (highly regarded).
  • Strong time management and organisational skills.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels.
  • A flexible attitude and strong work ethic.
  • The ability to meet deadlines and achieve results within specified timeframes.
  • A strong customer focus and high attention to detail.
  • The ability to work effectively within a team or independently with minimal supervision.
  • The ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment and drug and alcohol (D&A) screening.
