The Role
We are seeking an experienced and multi-skilled Mines Assistant to join our P49 Department. Reporting to the P49 Supervisor, you will be responsible for supporting frontline development operators to safely and efficiently achieve the mine plan.

This is a residential position operating on a 7/7 continuous day and night roster, allowing you to return home each day and enjoy the lifestyle that Mount Isa has to offer.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Operating loaders
  • Charging
  • Off-siding frontline Jumbo Operators
  • Identifying opportunities to improve work practices and conditions
  • Identifying safety and cost-saving initiatives
  • Delivering personnel and equipment to job sites and returning surplus equipment to stores
  • Supporting the P49 Operations team in achieving budgeted KPIs by performing all required roles within the team
  • Contributing positively to the team environment while operating safely and supporting the delivery of production targets within budget

The successful candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of three years' experience and sound knowledge of underground mining operations
  • A current Australian manual driver's licence
  • An Elphinstone 1700/2900 or Sandvik 514/517 loader ticket, or equivalent competency
  • Development jumbo operating experience highly regarded
  • Demonstrated knowledge of risk management, safety systems and legislative requirements relevant to underground mining
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A flexible and adaptable approach, with a high level of attention to detail
  • A proven history of reliability and punctuality, with a strong commitment to safety
  • A willingness to learn and develop new skills
  • The ability to work collaboratively and effectively within a team environment
  • The ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening
