Mount Isa Mines are currently seeking an experienced Motor Mechanic – Leading Hand in the George Fisher Mine Mobile Maintenance Department reporting to the George Fisher Mine Mobile Maintenance Supervisor. This is a residential role in Mount Isa.

The Role
We are looking for an experience Motor Mechanic with a strong involvement in all aspects of maintenance, including routine maintenance, repairs and servicing to join us in the Mobile Maintenance department at George Fisher Mine. In this role you will carry out routine scheduled maintenance tasks, trouble shooting and completing breakdown repairs. You will have the ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently, working in a dynamic and challenging environment with a high focus on planned maintenance by working within a team and promoting site safety standards and ensuring the highest standards of work are conducted and maintained. You will also be assisting the Supervisor by acting in a leadership capacity for the crew.
Reporting to the Mobile Maintenance Supervisor, you will have the ability to make decisions, work to meet deadlines and have exceptional communication skills. The roster for this role is on a 7 on 7 off day and night continuous shift.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Working both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary trade team
- Assist in complying with required Australian standards, mine regulations, environmental standards and any other relevant documents
- To assist the supervisor by acting in a leadership capacity for the crew.
- To act in supervisor role when supervisor is absent.
- Promote safety initiatives to reduce injury statistics
- Demonstrating a high standard of professional workmanship
- Performing light fleet maintenance work, as well as breakdown repairs
- Planned maintenance activities on assets including but not limited to, Toyota’s, Nissans, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Holden and Isuzu as well as light trucks, buses and small trailers
- Contributing to continuous improvement opportunities
- To deliver personnel and equipment to job sites and return surplus equipment to stores.
- To contribute positively to the team environment, operate safely and assist with delivery of production targets within budget
- Mentoring apprentices.
- Project work as required
- Trade qualification – Motor Mechanic
- Hold a current manual driver’s license
- S1,S2,S3
- Holding a current Refrigeration Handling License is highly regarded.
- Experience in repairing Light Vehicles
- Positive attitude and high safety standards
- Mining or heavy industry experience will be highly regarded
- Holding High risk work licence, Working at Heights and Confined Space, forklift licence, MR or HR licence;
- Excellent trouble-shooting & problem solving skills;
- Flexible approach and adaptable to change with a high attention to detail;
- Good time management skills and able to work well under pressure;
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment;
- Good communication skills;
- Willingness and ability to learn new processes;
- Experience in SAP would be an advantage or similar system;
- Experience in Excel would be an advantage.
