Mount Isa Mines are currently seeking an Electrical Maintenance Assistant to support our electricians in performing essential planned, unscheduled, and breakdown electrical maintenance and installation tasks. Reporting directly to the Supervisor – Underground Electrical, you will play a key role in minimising equipment downtime whilst upholding high safety standards and work quality.
This position is residentially based in Mount Isa and will require you to work a roster comprising of 7on 7off day-shift.

Responsibilities of the Successful Candidate
- Maintain a valid Queensland Driver’s Licence
- Actively participate in safety meetings, including Safe Start and Toolbox Talks.
- Conduct personal risk assessments, identifying hazards and implementing control measures.
- Report safety and environmental incidents and assist in investigations.
- Engage in site safety initiatives to foster a secure work environment.
- Provide regular feedback to Electricians and supervisors on work practices.
- Plan and organize tasks efficiently, ensuring necessary equipment is available.
- Maintain tool security and conduct pre-start checks on equipment.
- Identify and assist with recycling and e-waste initiatives.
- Uphold high housekeeping standards in all work areas.
What the Successful Candidate Will Possess
- Experience in planning work tasks to comply with daily and weekly plans.
- Strong decision-making skills and the ability to display leadership within your scope.
- Knowledge of Hazard Identification and Risk Management principles.
- Ability to operate machinery safely and effectively, where trained.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with various work groups.
