The Role
We are seeking an experienced and multi-skilled Special Serviceperson to join our P49 Department. Reporting to the P49 Supervisor, you will provide operational support across the P49 team, with a focus on mine services, development face preparation and general underground operational activities.
This is a residential position operating on a 7/7 continuous day and night roster, allowing you to return home each day and enjoy the lifestyle that Mount Isa has to offer.

We are seeking an experienced and multi-skilled Special Serviceperson to join our P49 Department. Reporting to the P49 Supervisor, you will provide operational support across the P49 team, with a focus on mine services, development face preparation and general underground operational activities.
This is a residential position operating on a 7/7 continuous day and night roster, allowing you to return home each day and enjoy the lifestyle that Mount Isa has to offer.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Completing high-quality development face preparation and inspections to enable safe and efficient face drilling
- Repairing, replacing and extending underground mine services, including 4” and 2” poly, ventilation and dewatering systems
- Safely installing and maintaining underground services in accordance with site standards and requirements
- Operating and maintaining relevant underground equipment safely and within established guidelines
- Undertaking truck driving and mine clean-up activities as required
- Providing relief Development Charging support when required
- Engaging with relevant department stakeholders to ensure tasks are completed safely and efficiently
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation in accordance with statutory and site requirements
- Contributing positively to the team environment and supporting the achievement of operational KPIs, targets and budget requirements
- Working safely and compliantly at all times, identifying and addressing hazards and operational issues as required
The successful candidate will possess:
- A current manual driver's licence
- A current Volvo and/or CAT IT ticket (site-specific tickets are acceptable)
- Experience in underground mining and/or mine services is essential
- A strong commitment to safety, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
- A current Police Clearance and/or Queensland Explosives Security Clearance (QESC), or the ability to obtain one, is highly desirable
- The ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening
