This is residentially based. This position reports directly to the Superintendent of Geotechnical.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Ensure compliance is maintained with the Ground Control Management plan and the QLD Mining Quarrying and Safety ACT.
- Training and mentoring of Geotechnical Engineers and providing ground awareness training to site personnel.
- Conduct and report empirical and numerical modelling results of new mining blocks.
- Record and interrogate monitoring instrumentation, report, and develop action plans in conjunction with operations and planning engineers.
- Ground support product trials and reporting to optimise ground support designs.
- Ensure department KPIs are achieved and performance reporting.
- A tertiary degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering or Geoscience, with majors in Mining and/or Geotechnical engineering.
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in underground hard rock mining.
- Demonstrate teamwork, strong communication skills, practical problem-solving skills, and analytical skills.
- Experience in core logging and raise bore stability justifications for shaft infrastructure projects.
- High level of accuracy in their work and ability to manage time effectively.
- Competent in using the following software packages: RocScience, Deswick, Leapfrog3D, FLAC3D.
- A sound knowledge of risk management, safety systems and legislative requirements.
