The Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Underground Operator to join the Fixed Plant Maintenance team at George Fisher Mine. Reporting to the Supervisor – Fixed Plant Operations, you will be responsible for supporting the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the underground crushing and conveying system. Working within a collaborative team, you will contribute to achieving production targets while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, operational excellence and continuous improvement.
This position operates on a 7/7 continuous rotating day and night shift roster and is residentially based in Mount Isa offering an excellent work life balance while allowing you to enjoy the lifestyle and community of North West Queensland.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Safely operating underground conveyor systems and mobile equipment to support crushing and conveying operations
- Conducting crushing plant prestart inspections and undertaking minor servicing and repairs to maintain equipment reliability
- Maintaining a high standard of housekeeping including operating loaders, mucking and rehandling spillages, and collecting and disposing of steel and waste from the ore system
- Operating, monitoring and replacing dewatering equipment as required
- Assisting with planned and unplanned shutdown activities to support maintenance and operational requirements
- Communicating effectively with Mine Control to ensure the safe and efficient operation of crushing and hoisting activities
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, reliability and operational performance
The successful candidate will possess:
- Previous experience in underground mining and fixed plant operations and maintenance
- A current Australian manual driver's licence
- A loader ticket, or the ability to obtain one
- A strong commitment to working safely and effectively in an underground mining environment
- A proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while contributing to a positive workplace culture
- Effective time management skills and the ability to prioritise work in a dynamic operational environment
- A flexible approach, strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn and adapt
- Reliability, punctuality and a positive work ethic
- The ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening
