Glencore are currently advertising for a Logistics Support Officer vacancy that exists in the Logistics team. This role is residentially based in Townsville, working a Monday–Friday roster.

This position will report to the Logistics Superintendent and is responsible for leading the coordination and execution of safe, reliable and cost effective logistics operations across Glencore Metals Australia. The Supervisor – Logistics provides frontline supervision across key supply chain interfaces including stevedoring, warehousing, rail, road and site logistics to maintain operational continuity and support consistent material flows. The role works closely with internal customers and a range of external providers—including Queensland Rail, QUBE, Aurizon, Pacific National, NSS and Centurion—to ensure efficient daily movement of commodities and consumables, proactive risk management and uninterrupted production support.

Key responsibilities include:
- Champion a strong safety culture, leading safe execution of all logistics activities across road, rail and site environments while driving proactive safety interactions and incident follow ups.
- Ensure high contractor performance and compliance, fostering safe work practices and maintaining strong oversight of all third party logistics providers.
- Oversee daily logistics operations, coordinating the efficient movement of commodities and consumables to support continuous production.
- Maintain consistent material flow, monitoring stock levels and responding quickly to potential supply risks to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Manage key logistics and transport interfaces, working closely with rail and road freight partners to optimise scheduling and resolve operational constraints.
- Act as a central communication point, ensuring production, supply chain, transport providers and maintenance teams remain informed, aligned and responsive to changing priorities.
- Monitor and report on logistics performance, identifying opportunities to improve reliability, cost efficiency and service outcomes.
- Support short term planning and contingency management, providing sound, real time decision making during disruptions or shifting supply conditions.

- S1,2,3 Mine Supervisors Course

- Australian Drivers Licence
- Proven understanding of logistics operations, material flows and on site operational requirements.
- Strong coordination skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple stakeholders.
- A proactive approach to managing disruptions, solving problems and maintaining operational continuity.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety leadership and positive safety culture.
- Clear and confident communication skills with sound decision making capability.
- Experience in operational planning, prioritisation and driving process improvements.
