Mount Isa Mines are currently seeking multiple Nippers, in the Development team at the George Fisher Mine Operations. These positions are residentially based in Mount Isa and is an entry level position to get your start in the underground mining industry.

The Role
We are looking for a motivated and physically fit team member with a strong commitment to safety to join us in the role of a Nipper. An individual who is responsible for the safe operation of plant and equipment. To assist with the development and rehabilitation to partake in ad hoc tasks such as delivery, pick up and transport of heavy mining consumables and personnel within the underground mine, reporting to the Development Supervisor. The roster for this role is on a day and night, 7 on 7 off rotating roster.

The Role
We are looking for a motivated and physically fit team member with a strong commitment to safety to join us in the role of a Nipper. An individual who is responsible for the safe operation of plant and equipment. To assist with the development and rehabilitation to partake in ad hoc tasks such as delivery, pick up and transport of heavy mining consumables and personnel within the underground mine, reporting to the Development Supervisor. The roster for this role is on a day and night, 7 on 7 off rotating roster.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Performing pre-start checks, hazard identification, PRAs and the installations of barricades / signage
- Ensuring all housekeeping is kept to a high standard, including washing the light vehicles as required and removing excess consumables and rubbish from job sites
- The communication of accurate and timely information to Mine Control and Cross Shift
- Reporting the status of all development headings that have been set up during shift to the Supervisor
- A demonstrated history of reliability and punctuality
- Willingness and ability to learn new processes
- Excellent troubleshooting & problem solving skills
- Flexible approach and adaptable to change with a high attention to detail
- Hold a current Australian Manual Licence
- Able to pass Pre-employment medical including a Drug and Alcohol
- Currently hold or have the ability to obtain a Queensland Security Explosives Clearance Card
