Superintendent – Projects

 

Glencore’s McArthur River Mine (MRM) is one of the world’s largest zinc–lead mines with a strong future ahead. Located in the Gulf of Carpentaria, 900 km southeast of Darwin and 64 km from Borroloola, we produce and process zinc, lead and silver from our open cut operation. These essential commodities are then exported worldwide, supporting mobility, infrastructure, and communications.

 

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Superintendent – Projects to lead and deliver key capital and operational projects across our operations. This is a critical leadership role ensuring projects are scoped, planned, and executed safely, on time, and within budget—supporting the long-term success of MRM.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and execution of projects from concept to delivery.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and contractor performance.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, maintenance, and other stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement in project delivery and operational outcomes.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and development for project team members.
  • Prepare and present project updates, reports, and recommendations to senior leaders.

 

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • Proven experience in project management within the mining or heavy industry sector.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent planning, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
  • Project Management certification (desirable).
