The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Mill Labourer to join our Glencore Sudbury Integrated Nickel Operations.

The position will be based in Greater Sudbury (Onaping), Ontario.

This is a full-time, permanent, unionized position.

The hourly wage rate is $38.37 per hour, the position is eligible for applicable bonuses.

This position is being posted to fill an existing vacancy.

Work location is not accessible by public transportation.

Duties and Accountabilities: 

  1. Works in compliance with the Sudbury Integrated Nickel Operations safety rules and the Internal Responsibility System.
  2. Participates in appropriate training and complies within the scope of their responsibilities within the Sustainable Development Management System, which includes the Environmental Management System.
  3. Picks up tools, equipment and materials required for the job; inspects work areas, reports unusual conditions to supervision and/or operator.
  4. Cleans assigned areas by spreading sweeping compound where necessary, sweeping, hosing and shoveling; removes material with a wheelbarrow.
  5. Assists operators and attendants in their related duties.
  6. Removes tramp materials such as metal, wood, plastic, rubber and oversized rock from assigned areas. Disposes of material at proper locations.
  7. Submits to supervisor oral reports relevant to job duties.
  8. Cleans snow from walkways and doorways by shoveling; applies road salt to slippery areas as required.
  9. Performs other related duties as required.

The qualified applicant will be required to work a 12-hour shift schedule in a highly sensitive work environment. Your personal commitment to health, safety, training, and continuous improvement will be the key to your growth in this role.

 Education and Skills                

Applicants must possess a Grade 12 Diploma. Post-secondary education will be considered an asset.

This position requires significant mechanical reasoning skills along with demonstrated troubleshooting and analytical skills.
