Glencore’s McArthur River Mine (MRM) is a world-class Zinc-Lead mine with a long future. You’ll find our mine in the Gulf of Carpentaria 900 km southeast of Darwin and 64 km from Borroloola. We produce and process Zinc, Lead and Silver from our Open Cut Mining operations. They are then stored and transported to our Bing Bong loading facility and shipped to our customers all over the world. Our customers use our essential commodities in everyday products for mobility, infrastructure and communications.

About the Role:

Kick-start your career in the mining industry and become a key part of our dynamic team in the Processing Plant. We are looking for motivated individuals to join our Process Operation team in these exciting opportunities across the metallurgy operations. To thrive in this role, you must enjoy working in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment where 20,000 steps a day is routine and heights of 5 stories high is the norm, you must be able to work in the NT’s heat and humid weather, at times with full PPE required.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Operate and monitor fixed plant equipment, ensuring smooth and safe production.
  • Conduct ore preparation activities including crushing, screening, sampling
  • Perform regular plant and equipment inspections to identify potential safety hazards or maintenance issues.
  • Keep detailed and up-to-date records of operations, including production data, equipment performance, and safety checks.
  • Work closely with team members to meet production goals and optimize operational efficiency.
  • Assist with plant start ups, shut downs and change outs
  • Proactively identify and report opportunities for continuous improvement to boost productivity and reduce costs.
  • Engage in training and development activities to align with Glencore's core values.
  • Follow all environmental guidelines and procedures to ensure sustainability in operations.
  • Demonstrate a strong safety awareness and contribute to a safety-first culture by promoting safe practices at all times.

 

What We’re Looking For:

 

  • Experience in a similar industrial or mining environment is beneficial but not essential
  • Applicants able to complete the duties required, walking all day, working in the heat and at times at heights.
  • Tickets for mobile plant and high risk are desirable but not essential.
  • A proactive problem-solver with a passion for tackling challenges and finding solutions.
  • A collaborative team player with a positive, can-do attitude.
  • A commitment to contributing meaningfully at MRM and as part of the broader Glencore team.

 

At McArthur River Mine, we support the Northern Territory first, and Territorian applicants or those prepared to relocate.
