The role in a nutshell:

In this role you act as the Project Cost Controller to project teams, turning complex project data into concise insights that enable informed decision-making. You collaborate with project and finance leads to improve governance, enhance forecasting and enhance reporting transparency. By taking a grounded, site-informed approach, you support improved project results and continuous improvement.

 

More specifically, you will be expected to:

  • Prepare financial reporting, including monthly project cost consolidation, variance analysis and commentary, in close collaboration with Project Managers.
  • Support Project Managers with budgeting, forecasting and Life of Asset (LOA) planning and management throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring financial reporting and expenditure requests are accurate and timely.
  • Provide project controls support across stage?gate processes, project costing and financial oversight from initiation through close?out.
  • Serve as a collaborative business partner to Project Managers by helping track and manage spending against budget, forecast, and the approved Scope of Work (SOW) so that costs stay aligned with project scope and objectives.
  • Assist the Senior Project Controller in delivering project controls reports in accordance with CMF and Glencore requirements.

 

Do you have what it takes?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Auditing, Engineering, Technology, Science, Project Management, Business or a related field.
  • PMP certification or training is an asset.
  • 5–7 years’ relevant project controls and/or financial analysis experience on large mining, smelting or environmental projects (experience on other industrial projects is also welcome — mining/smelting/environmental experience strongly preferred).
  • Financial and analytical skills: budgeting, forecasting, LOA planning, cost tracking, variance analysis, and accurate interpretation of financial data.
  • Solid understanding of project lifecycles, cost drivers, schedules, change impacts and stage?gate processes.
  • Proficient with Excel, ERP systems and reporting platforms; skilled in project/financial systems and reporting/process optimisation.
  • Experience working with engineers and other technical end users to translate operational needs into financial controls and reports.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management: able to present cost insights and risks clearly, collaborate effectively across teams, stay organised, and adhere to controls and deadlines.
  • Self-managing, commercially minded and able to act as a trusted business partner to Project Managers.

 

Travel: No travel is required for this role

Language: Advanced proficiency in English (verbal and written) is mandatory.  

Location: Corporate office in Toronto 5 days a week

 The expected base salary for this position is 75 000$ to 112 000$, based on competencies, skills, and qualifications and aligned with internal equity. The incumbent will also be eligible to participate in a variable compensation plan (bonus) (note: payment of variable compensation is subject to the terms and conditions of the variable compensation plan and is not guaranteed).
