The role in a nutshell:
In this role, you will report to the Global Value Enablement Manager and ensure robust data governance across the Coupa landscape. This includes implementing appropriate controls and audit processes to guarantee data accuracy, security, and compliance with internal requirements and external regulations such as POPIA and GDPR. The candidate will possess effective senior stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills, along with significant experience in procurement and project management. An effective leadership ability and strategic mindset are vital for converting raw data into actionable business intelligence that influences key decisions at every level of a diverse global business.
More specifically, you will be expected to:
- Develop and oversee the strategy, policy enforcement, and delivery of all data governance, analysis, and reporting functions across the Coupa landscape (Coupa and associated reporting assets).
- Identify, monitor, and report on specific and measurable savings and process improvement opportunities to support the global supply chain objective of improving procurement efficiencies and spend management.
- Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of standard dashboards, reports, and data visualizations using business intelligence tools to deliver meaningful insights that facilitate process and sourcing improvements.
- Manage a team of analysts and managers responsible for governance, data integrity, report identification, specification, and testing, as well as an external team for data warehousing and report delivery. Ensure robust data governance, appropriate controls, and audit processes to guarantee data accuracy, security, and compliance with internal and external regulations.
- Develop, implement, and maintain a data and reporting strategy that aligns with overall business objectives and reflects inherent risks in the landscape.
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams, including legal and compliance, to understand data needs, gather reporting requirements, and present findings clearly. Standardize reporting across business units, establish realistic delivery timelines, and educate stakeholders on data-led decision-making processes.
- Partner with technology and operational teams to ensure seamless data flow and integration between various systems and platforms.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of compliance, data, and reporting analysts/managers, cultivating a culture of collaboration, high standards, and continuous improvement. Establish a robust operating model and ensure alignment with external supporting parties.
- Establish and enforce data quality standards, metrics, and monitoring mechanisms to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Oversee the overall Coupa data architecture, ensuring it is fit for purpose. Design, document, and implement data governance policies, standards, and procedures, including data architecture, ownership models, and lifecycle management. Plan and execute proactive risk assessments and regular risk reviews.
- Develop and enforce data security policies and access controls to protect sensitive information and ensure compliance with relevant data privacy regulations (e.g., POPIA, GDPR, HIPAA, SOX).
- Establish mechanisms for governance oversight and prepare for and manage regular data quality and system control audits, coordinating responses to inquiries from internal and external auditors and regulators. Monitor and report compliance with key financial and procurement controls and policies across the Coupa platform.
- Oversee the compilation of business requirements, design, development, user acceptance, and maintenance of standard dashboards, reports, and data visualizations using business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to facilitate operations at strategic, tactical, and operational levels.
- Guide the analysis of intricate datasets to uncover trends, discrepancies, and chances for improving operations and strategy. Establish and report on key KPIs aligned with identifying potential new process efficiency opportunities and operational spend management effectiveness.
- Identify opportunities to streamline and automate manual reporting processes to increase efficiency and reduce effort.
Do you have what it takes?
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, or Supply Chain Management; a master's degree is a plus.
- Proficient at communicating and building relationships, skilled in simplifying complex data and governance insights for both technical and non-technical groups, particularly executives.
- Solid project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives concurrently.
- Skilled leadership skills to develop a robust internal team and manage external service providers effectively.
- 5+ years of experience in a leadership or team management capacity, along with skills in procurement, data analysis, or reporting, demonstrating steady advancement in responsibilities.
- Experience with data visualization tools and data governance frameworks, including data quality management and implementing data controls.
- Good understanding of data warehousing and ETL processes.
- Experience in the Mining Industry
- Experience in conducting data audits and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) principles.
- Proficiency in programming languages like Python or R for advanced data analysis.
- Proficiency in SQL for complex data querying and manipulation.
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with various departments.
- The proficiency in adjusting to evolving tasks within a busy atmosphere.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to analyze complex situations and propose effective solutions.
Travel: Travel will be required to be successful in meeting the requirements of this role.
Language: Advanced proficiency in English (verbal and written) is mandatory. The knowledge of Spanish and/or French is beneficial.
Location: On Site, at the corporate office in Malaga.
