The role in a nutshell:

As a participant in this two-year program, you will gain practical experience through rotational assignments at various North American closed sites and functional departments. You will work alongside industry professionals, developing a well-rounded skill set in closure planning, execution, and closed sites management. To support your professional growth, you will also be enrolled in some of Glencore’s Development Programs, providing essential technical, leadership and business training.

 

 More specifically, you will be expected to:

  • Gain practical experience at various closed sites by supporting water treatment plant operations, conducting monitoring, sampling, and inspections, and assisting in minor capital project management.
  • Work closely with specialized mentors to gain insight into key closure disciplines, including health & safety, water chemistry, geochemistry, tailings dam management, and rock mechanics.
  • Participate in Glencore’s Tailings Management Academy to develop skills in responsible tailings and waste management.
  • Complete Capital Management Framework (CMF) Project Management Training to enhance project planning and execution skills.

 

 Do you have what it takes?

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (e.g., Environmental, Geotechnical, Chemical, Mechanical, Mining, Civil) or in Earth and Environmental Science (e.g., Geochemistry, Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Biology).
  • A Minimum 2 co-ops or 1 year of experience in environmental work and/or mining projects.
  • Proficient computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Skilled communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated with keen attention to detail, organizational skills, and the capacity to organize work efficiently.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to work safely in very remote locations, including outdoors at all times of the year.



Travel: Willingness and ability to travel within North America, including to remote locations.

 

Language: Advanced proficiency in English and French (verbal and written) is mandatory.  


Location: Need to be able to work in very remote locations. The Mine Closure Graduate will stay at the same site for approximately 4 months.

The expected base salary for this position is 60 000$ to 80 000$, based on competencies, skills, and qualifications and aligned with internal equity. The incumbent will also be eligible to participate in a variable compensation plan (bonus) (note: payment of variable compensation is subject to the terms and conditions of the variable compensation plan and is not guaranteed).
